Queen Elizabeth National Park is one of the most popular game parks in Uganda and in east Africa.  It is located in the western part of Uganda about 376km from Kampala. Queen Elizabeth national park is known for its variety of wildlife, most of which was killed in the Uganda-Tanzania war.  The park is a true nature hub with a number of natural attractions making it a suitable option for Uganda safaris.  It has volcanic features which include volcanic cones, and deep craters, it also includes the Maramagambo Forest, not to mention the various species of wildlife that reside within its borders.
Spanning 370 kilometers square and within close proximity of the capital city of Kampala is Lake Mburo National Park. Perfect scenery for photographers and bird enthusiasts, Lake Mburo is home to a variety of leopards, hippos, zebras, hyenas, impalas, and other animals, and to 350 species of birds. But the adventurous park doesn’t only showcase animals. Underneath the park’s surface are ancient Precambrian metamorphic rocks that are over 500 million years old, making for a geologist’s dream tour. Together with 13 other nearby lakes, Lake Mburo forms part of a 50-kilometer wetland system and has much woodland.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, you will be picked up by our hospitable, experienced guide/Driver. You will then depart at 8:00 am for Queen Elizabeth national park stopping at the equator for photography and proceeding to Mbarara for lunch. After lunch continues with your journey arriving in time for an evening game drive where you will be able to see a number of elephants, Uganda kob, and many other animals including many bird species. It’s a little wonder that Queen Elizabeth boasts one of the highest numbers of biodiversity in the world from the open savannah to the rain forest, dense papyrus swamps, and brooding crater lakes to the vastness of Lake Edward. Day 2: Game Drive
Early in the morning at about 6:15, have a cup of coffee and then at about 6:30 am proceed for a game drive in the northern sector of the park where you shall be looking for pride of lions, the Uganda kob, warthogs, oribis, waterbucks, buffalos, spotted Hyenas, leopards and many other animals not forgetting the beautiful birds. This game drive takes 3-4 hours and then return for a full breakfast at your hotel. In the afternoon, you will go for a boat cruise along the Kazinga channel which is home to many hippos, buffalos, elephants that come to gallop in lots of water, and many birds at the shores like Great white and pink-Backed pelicans, Great long-tailed cormorants, open-billed stork, African jacana, malachite and pied kingfishers are commonly seen. This cruise takes 3 hours.

Day 3: Tree Climbing Lions
After early breakfast will head to the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National park in search of the tree-climbing lions. These lions climb the trees for a number of reasons like having better views where they can go hunting. The game drive in this sector can take the whole day so you will be leaving with packed lunch. You will have another game drive in the afternoon or have a nature walk along the Ishasha River then later drive back to your lodge arriving later evening. Dinner and overnight at Simba safari lodge.
Day 4: Lake Mburo
After early breakfast, you proceed to Lake Mburo National Park. As we enter the park it is likely that you will spot some wildlife. After checking in you will go on a boat ride on the lake and enjoy the rich bird life and the many hippos that are cooling off. Have an early dinner before going on a night game drive in an open Land Cruiser with the spotlight. This special game drive of 2-3 hours provides a 30% chance of seeing the elusive leopard and of course other nocturnal animals. Overnight at Mihingo Lodge. Experience.
Day 5: Game Drive
Today you will go horse riding in the park and bring you close to lots of wildlife. Lake Mburo is the only national park where you can experience horse riding safaris. Return to the lodge for a full breakfast and relax at the swimming pool. You will have an evening game drive in search of lots of games and later return to the lodge. Overnight at Mihingo lodge.
Day 6: End of Safari
After breakfast, head back to Kampala or for your flight but have a lunch break in Mbarara and some shopping at the Equator. The journey will take about 7 hours.
